Dr. Margot Weissman was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. Growing up with a dog and an immense love for animals, it was clear that she would find a way to pursue her passion for caring for them. Dr. Weissman graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in International Relations and a focus in Public Health.
After graduation, she enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces, serving in Oketz, the elite K9 unit of the Israeli army. She worked as a dog trainer and caretaker for search and rescue dogs, attack dogs, and weapon-detecting dogs. Following her service, Dr. Weissman earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, with a focus in small animal medicine and surgery. Throughout her undergraduate and veterinary education, she participated in clinical and data research related to cancer and endocrine diseases. After graduation, Dr. Weissman completed a one-year internship in surgery and medicine at the ASPCA Animal Hospital in Manhattan, with a unique focus on animal cruelty and shelter medicine.
Dr. Weissman believes in prioritizing patient comfort, client communication, and compassionate care. When she is not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and Labradoodle, as well as traveling and hiking.
