When Does My Pet Need Lab Work?
There are different instances in which it’s important for your pet to undergo lab work. For routine wellness exams, we recommend comprehensive blood testing, along with parasite screens, to check for signs of disease and establish a baseline of health. We can use these test results to inform lifestyle and treatment decisions, and for comparison so we can better detect subtle changes.
In addition to performing routine wellness tests, we also require blood work prior to any anesthetic surgical procedure. This blood work allows us to evaluate your pet’s health and organ function, so we can be sure anesthesia will pose minimal risk.
If your pet comes to us with a suspected illness, lab work can help our team find answers and make informed treatment recommendations to benefit your pet.
