Dr. Katherine Bartel grew up in Montvale, NJ, among a myriad of pets. Her love for animals began as early as she can remember, and as a child, she rescued and cared for every creature that came her way.

Dr. Bartel graduated from Wesleyan University with a double major in biology and animal studies. After working at a farm animal sanctuary in Vermont and as a veterinary technician at several small animal practices in NJ, she was inspired to apply to veterinary school. Dr. Bartel attended Tufts University, where she received her DVM. After graduating, she began working at a small animal general practice in Dover, New Hampshire. Although Dr. Bartel very much enjoyed her time on the seacoast; her love for New York brought her back to the city.

Dr. Bartel currently has five rescue cats, all of whom are very spoiled, and is an “auntie” to Buddy, a black Lab/hound mix. Her special interests include feline medicine, surgery, dentistry, and working with senior patients. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, reading, working out, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family.
