Dr. Fontana grew up in New York City with an inquisitive spirit, leading him to follow a career in veterinary medicine. The exhibits available from museums, aquariums, and zoos helped foster a passion for learning that was later solidified by various animals he had the opportunity to work with. One of his first memories caring for animals was made by nursing a small bird back to health that he found one summer while on a walk. From that moment on, he took every opportunity to immerse himself in programs such as working at the Central Park Zoo and volunteering at the New York Aquarium, where he would gain knowledge of all species. Dr. Fontana completed his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Fordham University before attending veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. When he is not in the office, he can be found spending time with his two dogs Lorenzo and Mason, and cooking, traveling and going to see a Broadway show.
