Growing up in Westchester County, New York, Dr. Becker knew from age six that she wanted to take care of animals. And so did all of her teachers, as every writing assignment involved stories of animals or taking care of them. She graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in biology, where she played varsity soccer for four years. Her summers in college were spent exploring various avenues of veterinary medicine, including small animal medicine, large animal medicine at Muscoot Farm, and working with aquatics at the Norwalk Aquarium. After graduation, she spent a year working in a small animal practice in New York. She got her degree in veterinary medicine at Cornell University. In her free time during her four years there, she enjoyed hiking and exploring the gorges and trails around Ithaca, New York. After receiving her degree in veterinary medicine, she continued her education, completing a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the ASPCA animal hospital in New York City. Dr. Becker’s interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, surgery, and anti-cruelty work. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Becker enjoys running and hiking with her rescue dog Electra. Dr. Becker is extremely excited to join the wonderful Heart of Chelsea team!
